Questions
Where are my thoughts kept, and what happens if I delete Synmit?
On your iPhone, in Files: On My iPhone > Synmit. “Your thoughts and settings are On My iPhone, in the Synmit folder in Files. Deleting Synmit deletes them.” If you keep them in iCloud Drive instead (Synmit Settings > Synmit tab > Storage), deleting Synmit doesn’t delete them. On a Mac, “They stay on this Mac if you delete Synmit.”
Does Synmit send my thoughts anywhere?
Only where you synmit them. There’s no account and no server, and your voice is turned into text on your device.
What does Synmit Reach add?
“With Synmit Reach, your thoughts reach your own tools: your email, your own shortcuts, and the apps you sign in to.” It sends from your own email, to a shortcut you wrote, and to your Jira, Trello and Notion; writes your thoughts into a folder in iCloud Drive; transcribes the whole of a voice note; and holds more than one photo or voice note in a thought. The first week is free.
Can I use Synmit on my iPhone and my Mac?
Yes, with your thoughts kept in iCloud Drive. Write or change a thought on one device, then on the other. A thought changed on both at once is kept twice, the second marked, and Synmit never deletes either.
Why does the Watch need my iPhone?
The Watch records your thought and hands it to your iPhone, which turns it into text and sends it.
Why didn’t my first thought to Notes send?
Notes works through a shortcut Synmit adds for you, and on iPhone Synmit can only tell it’s missing once you’ve tried. See Send your first thought to Notes.
Why didn’t my # word work?
“Type # and this word anywhere in a thought, on its own, to send it to the destination below.” If the word isn’t on its own, or matches no pathway, the thought goes to the default.
How do I get help?
In Synmit, open Report a Problem (Synmit Settings > Synmit tab > Diagnostics), then tap Email: Mail opens a message to us with the report attached. You send it from Mail, so nothing is sent unless you send it. Or see Support.
